The Seasons at Houndapitt Cottages

Our holiday season at Houndapitt is all-year round. There are plenty of things to do whatever the weather or reasons for visiting. Pause normal life and make a beeline for the coast at any time of year!

Spring

When the days start to lengthen and the weather gets warmer, make your way to Houndapitt for a relaxing spring break. Our fields are greener by the day, the skies become a brighter blue (between April showers!) and our resident wildlife begins to shake off the winter chill making our estate the perfect place to capture images of a cornish spring! For the past few years we have enjoyed some wonderful weather in April and May, so it is proving an excellent time to visit. Furthermore, the county is still relatively quiet before the onset of high summer, so if you are not constrained by school holidays, this is a fantastic time to plan a holiday at houndapitt.

Summer

During the summer months Cornwall is the most popular holiday destination in the UK. Millions of people flock to the county for their annual summer holiday and our villages and town buzz with happy people enjoying a break. Here at Houndapitt we are positioned perfectly - Bude, the quintessential, Cornish holiday resort is just 4 miles away and yet, when you return to Houndapitt there is nothing but peace and quiet for you to enjoy. If the weather is kind, you are 10 minutes walk from Sandymouth Bay, and if not - there are plenty of attractions and things to do undercover within a short distance.

Autumn

Autumn is a delightful time at Houndapitt - the leaves turn a myriad shade of red, russet, yellow and brown, the sun shines though September and October (usually!) and as half term and Halloween approach, the nights become longer, prompting cosy nights in. It is the perfect time to explore the beaches, cliffs and surrounding countryside and enjoy some peace following a busy, fun filled summer. Our local foods and produce are at the forefront during these months with food festivals and events all around the county.

Winter

Houndapitt is the perfect location for some serious storm watching! Get cosy in your chosen cottage, by the wood burner or fireplace and lose yourself in the amazing skies - though the windows of course! Stock your kitchen with delicious, local treats and raid the DVD library for a good film to watch as the nights close in. When the sun comes out, enjoy bracing walks along the cliffs or make the most of vast, deserted beaches knowing you have a warm haven waiting for you at the end of the day.
